25 Jul Hangover 2 Review
They say what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas. What goes on in Bangkok…..well let’s just say it’s hard to even imagine.
Hahahahaha never have I seen a Bachelor party gone so incredibly wrong!
Sure it’s only a movie but man you can’t help thinking it’s a possibility. And the movie just reminded me of some crazy crazy friends of mine.
The first movie was crazy, and the second installment Hangover 2 is even crazier than the first one. Cause this time the wolfpack has flown all the way to Bangkok! The land known for it’s vibrant and dynamic nightlife – the craziest parties, the ladies and “ladies” and the most interesting temples.
“The Hangover Part II” is director Todd Phillips’ follow-up to his 2009 smash hit “The Hangover,” which became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time and also won the Golden Globe for Best Film – Comedy or Musical
This time Stu (Ed Helms) is getting married and obviously the guys want to have a quick night out before he gets himself attached forever to the lady of his dreams, Lauren (Jamie Chung) . His best buddies Phil (Bradley Cooper) , Doug (Justin Bartha) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) join him on the beach for a beer together with Lauren’s younger [and terribly cute i might add!!] brother Teddy (Mason Lee).
The boys wake up the next morning only to find out that they don’t remember a thing – AGAIN!!!
You just gotta laugh at the ridiculousness of it all with this movie. This is why children.. do not simply take prescription pills, sleeping pills, or any kind of pills, and most of all NEVER MIX them pills!!! If not you’re going to end up with some weird tribal tattoo on your face, your head completely shaved and monkey somewhere and possibly getting shot at!
Anyway lets take about the movie. Here’s my two cents!
Things I’m crazy about!
I love movies about friendship. What appeals so much to me about both The Hangover films is that they really show the wonderful camaraderie of the cast. The enjoy special moments and the happiest times together. They go through immense crap together and they come out of it together. It’s a very weird bro code going on between the guys, and it’s hilarious to watch on screen. The guy combo is a delightful mix.
You’ve got Phil the smart macho dude who just seems cool all the time. Stu the smart dentist guy who you may think is a bit of a nerd but he’s got a dark side to him. And then there is Alan. The weirdest and most ridiculous friend – one whom you would be very wary of especially if he’s known to keep drugging you!
i have to say this Bradley Cooper is soooo incredibly hot! You may not see his fabulous bod as much as you did in The A-Team, but this man’s charm just oozes out of him.
Doug is not seen much again in the film, but he comes in as a nice little buffer between Stu and his soon to be wife.
The movie may not be very original in terms of storyline, but the best part has got to be watching the reactions of the guys. The film is like a treasure hunt. But the goal of the hunt is to find a person and the memory of what went down the night before. The hunt for the mysterious answers is fascinating to watch. Due to the events of the night, the boys end up with some aftermath situations the next day and watching them react in overly psychotic frantic behavior just makes you burst out in laughter. Half the time you see Stu screaming because his life is coming to a shamble. And you would see Alan, screwing up his face cause he’s about to cry.
Mr Chow (Ken Jeong) is the disturbing druggie, whom Alan has somehow made friends with. His acting is spot on cause his antics just make me go eiiiiyyyeerrrr.
By the way, since the story is set in Bangkok… Stu has a an unfortunate encounter with an “Aqua” and never could one predict of the misadventure he had with um the “lady”. Censorship board is gonna have a field day!
Running phrase in the movie “Bangkok has him now..” Hmmm watch the film you’ll know what i’m talking about.
The story has just the right amount of stupid. The script is nothing to scream about, but the performance by the guys is marvelous. It relies very heavily on the actors to bring out the story.
Things i’m not crazy about.
I didn’t get to see much on Doug!! A shame cause i really like his character, and he is probably the most sober of the entire group. Actually.. there isn’t much that i want to complain about the film, because i did get a good laugh and i wasn’t expecting anything big to begin with. ^_^
If you’re looking for a movie where you don’t need to think. you just want somthing dumb and you want a good laugh for 1 hour and 42 minutes. Then check out the Hangover part 2. It will make you laugh, i assure you, because it definitely made me laugh. You don’t need that much brain juice either.
All this week (25th-29th July 2011), RedFM will be giving away passes to watch a special screening of Hangover 2. Just listen in for the cue to sms to 33988!
