You all know SOULed OUT at Sri Hartamas. The spot where all Manchester United fans would hang out to watch the matches. The place that is the home of a lot of football lovers, beer lovers and FOOD lovers. After 15 years SOULed OUT has finally branched out to another area. This time it’s closer to the heart of KL and it’s smack right in the middle of Jalan Ampang. Talking with the marketing lass, Fanny who was a lovely host to us yesterday night, she mentioned that the Hartamas branch was considered the boy.. while the Ampang.. they aren’t too sure what’s the “gender” yet. hahaha although i think it suits more as a girl. You can say that SOULed OUT now has a sister hehe.

SOULed OUT Ampang is designed by international designer Ed Poole who upped the ante on the brief for a neighbourhood café. Unique and arresting features are the shadow pillars, majestically greeting patrons at the entrance, bakau poles that line the ceiling, teak butcher blocks as table tops, bar top and the staircase landing.

A pastel palatte of customised chalkboard shelving displays predominates at the main foyer and bar. The use of designer chairs gives the place a casual yet stylish atmosphere.


I really like the bar. i’ve come to realise that i enjoy sitting at high top tables and chairs.. maybe it’s because i’m short, so i get to feel tall with furnitures like this. lol. The bar was a wonderful spot to just chill, i had my laptop there and the lighting is just bright enough to make you feel like as if you are in a study room. Now that sounds cozy.. but when you listen to the retro music being played, it made me imagine myself like i was in one of those movies – where an American guy walks in with a black vest and sits down asking for a bowl of Chilli lol.


The tables, bar top and stairs are made out of butchers block wood. They only cut up the wood when it was brought to the location. The bar top apparently needed 30 people to lift it off the truck and into the room. :O


A very cozy environment, with pictures and jars or macaroni displayed on the wall shelves.

Then Mynn and i decided to play bartender. She made a Classic Mojito a signature drink at Souled Out while i made the other signature drink, the Lychee Martini. Yummmmm.Thank s to bartender Jimmy who taught us how to make our very own cocktails.

Ok lets move on to the food food food! To just get the gastric juices geared up we’ve got salads!

The top one is Nicoise Salad Pan seared tuna, egg, olives, potato, crisp romaine lettuce, artichoke, drizzled with plum dressing. In my hand, Summertime Salad Grilled seafood, orange segments, alfalfa sprouts, drizzled with home made vinaigrette.


Fajitas Flour : tortillas filled with roasted chicken / beef / vegetables, guacamole, jalapeno, salsa, sour cream and cheese.
Tofu Puffs
: Soft tofu puffs filled with minced prawns, mushrooms and vegetables, coated with batter and fried

Sake San: Salmon slivers, roe, cherry tomatoes, Japanese mayo, lollo rosso and a hint of wasabi. Fried Beef Noodles: Flat rice noodles in delicious egg gravy with generous serving of beef slices, topped with spring onions and ginger. Sang Har Mein: Wantan noodles with large fresh water prawns, deep fried and doused with egg gravy


Chicken Makanwala: Tikka chicken stewed in spicy onion gravy.
The Ultimate Sheekh Kebab : Minced mutton in Indian seasoning, skewered and grilled in a tandoor oven

Beef Espetada: (for 2 pax) 400g charbroiled ribeye meat skewers marinated with garlic, laurel leaves and rock salt, served with roast vegetables and baked potato, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese : Classic combination of smoked salmon and cream cheese

Ultimate Club Sandwich : 3 layered croissant filled with beef bacon, chicken ham, fried egg, cheddar cheese, tomato and lettuce.
Chicken Cordon ‘BLURR’:
Boneless whole chicken leg wrapped around sausage, cheese and chicken ham with coleslaw and golden fries.
Lamb Shank: Slow cooked to perfection, complemented with home made mashed potato and chunky vegetables



Lava Cake Warm:, moist chocolate cake infused with praline sauce and cashew nuts, topped with vanilla ice cream.
Bananarama: Grilled bananas wrapped in vanilla crepes with 3 scoops of ice cream, topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream

Mynn and i taking a shot with some of the people that makes SOULed OUT oh so happening. David – the Fleet Manager, Aizal – the Super Cook and Frankie – God of Drinks! Personalised service is one of the traits that set SOULed OUT apart from the rest. You can tell how cool they are by the cool “title designations” they give to their employees. SOULed OUT is a place engineered for friends and family to foster the spirit of friendship and camaraderie. The vibe i got was one big happy family, which is great to see. Even you would feel at comfortable and at home at SOULed OUT. So check out the new Ampang outlet today ^_^
