Get Intimate and Strengthen your Pelvic Floor Muscles

Get Intimate and Strengthen your Pelvic Floor Muscles

Get intimate with your Pelvic Floor Muscles!

What an attention grabbing tagline! Before i get on with the rest of the post, i want to first make it very clear, this is an educational post and it is not meant to be suggestive.. as much as you would like for it to be ūüėõ

ok on to the serious stuff ^_^

Upon arrival, there were a bunch of ladies already in the lounge area, all eagerly waiting for the event to start. The ladies were served finger sandwiches, other mini goodies, coffee and juice while we waited for others to register in. Each of us got a goodie bag that contained the Vibrance Kegel Device,1 cleanser and 1 lubricant.

Saw some familiar faces in the crowd too!

Mynn, Stephanie Liah and of course Rebecca (who was also one of the helping to organise the event).

When i first got the media invite to attend this interesting and uncommon event all my eyes could just focus on was the word “KEGEL”. The first time i came across this word was during the time i undergoing a fitness course i did years ago. So what does the term “kegel” mean. Well it is a pelvic floor exercise, which involves a lady¬†¬†repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the¬†pelvic floor, now sometimes colloquially referred to as the “Kegel muscles”. In all honesty ladies, you can even do the exercise right now as you read this post. ūüėõ

I agreed to joining the event because i really wanted to know more bout this particular exercise. The Vibrance Kegel Device Media Event was held at G-Tower hotel and it was organised by Bioinfinity. The company that is introducing this to the Malaysian market.

The event kicked off with all of us entering a private room and Jayne Lee, the marketing directoBioinfinity lady gave an introductory speech as to why Bioinfinity brought down this device. I always say the thing with anything to do with health and fitness is about educating the people. If people don’t know the reasons for why certain things are happening to and in their body, they won’t be bothered to take care of it.

She then introduced a physiotherapist Suhaila Shohaimi from UKMMC, who gave a very informative presentation about a ladies pelvic floor muscles.

Where they are, how to detect them, why it’s necessary to strengthen these muscles now and how to do the kegel exercise. You can checkout the presentation here, which would be a better explanation than mine. lol.

Jayne took the stage again.. and she showed a slide that really traumatised me.. this one!

Let’s just say what you see in that picture, is a possibility (a far possibility) if one doesn’t strengthen their pelvic floor muscles.¬†

Here are a couple of reasons why Pelvic Floor exercises are important :

–¬†Avoid & Treat Urinary Stress Incontinence : Involuntary urine leakage due to¬†weakness in Pelvic Floor muscles, making it difficult for bladder muscle to stay¬†closed during sudden increases in abdominal pressure, such as while coughing,¬†laughing, sneezing, or lifting a heavy object.

-Many women are not aware that incontinence is a treatable condition and often suffer in silence accepting it as a natural process of life.

-In 1998, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that bladder control problems affect more than 200 million people worldwide.

It was an educational day for me, and i’m real glad i was given the opportunity to learn more bout my body.

i’ll have another ost put up shortly on my experience using the Kegel device.
