Flyaway to Yeosu – Kyongbak Palace

Flyaway to Yeosu – Kyongbak Palace

It’s now Day 4 of the  Flyaway to Yeosu Expo contest!! Getting close to finding out who’s the winner!! Monday introduced you to the beautiful sights of Odongdo Island, Tuesday it was too Hyangiram Hermitage, Wednesday the serene scenes of Songgwangsa Temple and Thursday we shall see the magnificent….

Kyongbok Palace

The Kyongbok Palace or the Gyeongbokgung Palace is one of the Five Grand Palaces that were built during the Joseon Dynasty. In English, its name translates to “Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven

Located in and around the complex are the numerous buildings that made up the royal palace, The National Folk Museum (in a very cool looking building), and fronting the whole area is the massive and impressive Kwanghwa Gate.

The palace was the home of the royal family for 600 years – making it a target for the various Japanese invasions that helped reduce what was once a 500-building complex into the, still impressive, complex you see today.

Now lets take a walk to Dongdaemun Market 🙂

It’s been around since 1905 and is a famous spot for retail therapy as being one of the major markets in Korea. Specializing in wholesale clothing and now has over 20 shopping malls.

Shoppaholics beware!! I heard that prices at Dondaemun Market are inexpensive… gasp!!!! It is said, if i’m looking for it, i’ll find it there… ok we shall see!
